January Trike of the Month

Congratulations Bill Excell!

"The Transition from Two-Wheels to Three"

This month’s Trike of the Month belongs to Bill Excell, a security guard and motorcycle enthusiast from upstate New York.  For years, Bill was a die-hard 2-wheeled "Harley fan" who could never have imagined owning a 3-wheeler of any kind.  It wasn’t until returning from a long trip to Sturgis that he began to wonder how comfortable life on three wheels might actually be.  Having seen hundreds of 3-wheelers before, during and after his trip to South Dakota, Bill decided that a trike might actually be the answer to some of the weight and maneuverability issues he was experiencing with his current 2008 Electra Glide Classic.

So, upon returning from his Sturgis trip, he found himself skimming through the Albany Craigslist motorcycle section to determine what his options might be.  He came across a "real find" when he discovered this beautiful 2008 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra with the Roadsmith HDT trike conversion.  The owner had put a mere 3,000 miles on the bike since new and was ready to let it go at a fair price.Knowing that he had found a good deal, Bill snatched it up and proceeded to make it his own with a plethora of accessories and performance upgrades.

Currently the trike includes a Vance & Hines Fuel Pack, Throttle pack, a light for the tour pak that has a tip switch to turn it on automatically when it’s opened, chrome lock cover for the lock on the tour pack, chrome hinge covers for the tour pack, 10 inch tinted windshield, Skull license plat bolts that are drilled and mounted in the center of each turn signal lens, etc., etc.

Bill says that he’s really glad that he made the move from two wheels to three and we couldn’t be happier to add him to the Roadsmith family.  Thanks to Bill for submitting the great photos and we wish him many safe and enjoyable miles on his Roadsmith!

Please send us any and all trike builds that you would like to have considered for our Trike of the Month Contest.  The conversions don’t have to be anything over the top, just photos of nice Roadsmith trike conversions or, even more importantly, simply nice customers. We love to see what you’ve done and what you’re working on!
